Life of Fred, written by Stanley F. Schmidt, is a complete series of high school level math texts. They are quite different from anything else on the market. The author uses a continuous story line and a great deal of humor in presenting a complete course of mathematics. This series is highly recommended for language oriented and print oriented learners. Schmidt's humour is quite unique, so view the sample pages to see if this series will appeal to you and your students.
Some use these texts as a complete, high-school math programme: others, use them to compliment, or add some variety to, the texts they are currently using. They certainly present the material in a new, fresh way!
Unsolicited Raves from Readers . . .
. . . You should have heard the shameless chortles of glee from daughter #1 when she came home from her hike. She dove right into the advanced algebra book, completely ignoring her hiking partner who surely thought my daughter had dealt a death blow to sanity. We, of course, shared freely with our guest how wonderful your books are, and their mom looked through the books and wrote down your web address.
We received the Trig book on Friday. . . . The book looks wonderful and my daughter has her old math excitement back. I believe this book (and series) is an answer to my prayers. . . .I found her at 7 am this morning, working problems with gusto! God bless.
Dear Stan, Thank you for your wonderful series. My two teens are enjoying Beginning Algebra and Geometry. I will hear chuckling and "Listen to this..." quite frequently.
WOW! It is even better than I had hoped. My son and I just read the first chapter and we really enjoyed it. . . . Yours is the first living math book that I have ever seen. I am so excited that I will have a copy of Fractions to share. . . .Thank you for a great product and super fast shipping!
Life of Fred? The best thing I've ever read. No joke.
